Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
If you enter a name or date of birth in a search tool on the site, that information is sent to the outside company operating the tool. The partner processes the request and returns its results. We do not retain a copy of the search terms in our own records.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email the site, we keep the message so we can read and answer it. It stays within the site team unless law requires disclosure. Do not send sensitive case information when a court or Sheriff can answer the question directly.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor opens a page, the server may receive routine technical information about that session:
- Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Referring website, if one was used
- Date and time of the visit
Cookies and Analytics
The site uses cookies, small files stored by a browser, and analytics services to see aggregate traffic patterns. These tools help show which pages people use and where they leave. Browser settings can block cookies. Some site functions may act differently when that setting is used.

No Warrant Data on File
This private site does not keep, sell, or compile a database of Madison County warrants or personal warrant records. It publishes general directions to Virginia OCIS, the General District and JDR clerk, the Circuit Clerk, and the Sheriff. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor details are not assembled into consumer reports or records about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes may be operated by outside companies. Information entered there is handled under the provider’s privacy policy and data-retention practices, which we do not control. Review that provider’s policy before sending a query. The partner’s service is separate from an official court or Sheriff case search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages may link to Virginia Courts, Madison County, the Sheriff, the Town of Madison, legal aid, or a third-party search service. After following a link, the destination’s privacy terms govern. Check them before sharing personal information.
Advertising companies may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites or choose ads. The site does not control those outside systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be handled by:
- Search providers that receive queries typed into their tools
- Analytics services measuring site traffic
- Advertising networks that place ads on pages
- A government or law-enforcement body if a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use ordinary security practices to protect information collected by the site. Internet systems cannot be guaranteed to be fully secure. We work to reduce risk, but cannot promise that a breach or other security event will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal details from people under eighteen. If a minor’s information is found in a message to the site, it will be removed. Virginia JDR records have separate confidentiality rules that this site does not control.
Your Data Rights
Virginia FOIA, Virginia Code §2.2-3700 and following, governs access to eligible records held by public bodies. It does not turn this private site’s visitor data into a public court record or create an automatic right to information held by an outside search partner. Requests for a public warrant or case file should go to the office that keeps it.
